Nanosoft sustainability: questions and answers

Is Nanosoft a zero-landfill ITAD company?

Yes. Nanosoft Corporation Ltd operates a zero-landfill programme across all UK and European operations. Every asset collected is either refurbished and remarketed, reused for parts, or responsibly recycled through Environment Agency approved facilities. No IT equipment is sent to landfill.

What ISO environmental certification does Nanosoft hold?

Nanosoft Corporation Ltd holds ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management systems), UKAS-accredited. This covers our UK operations including collection, processing, refurbishment, and recycling of IT assets.

Can Nanosoft provide ESG and scope 3 carbon reporting for IT disposal?

Yes. Nanosoft provides ESG-ready reporting packs for every engagement, including CO2 equivalent diversion calculations, WEEE transfer evidence, material recovery data, and landfill avoidance figures. These are formatted for inclusion in annual sustainability reports and scope 3 carbon disclosures under GHG Protocol.

Is Nanosoft registered with the Environment Agency for WEEE disposal?

Yes. Nanosoft is a registered WEEE producer compliance scheme member and operates under the UK WEEE Regulations 2013 and EU WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU. We hold the T11 refurbishment exemption and work with approved authorised treatment facilities (AATFs) for materials that cannot be reused.

What is Nanosoft's commitment to the circular economy?

Nanosoft prioritises asset life extension above all else. Our circular economy hierarchy is: reuse the whole asset first, then reuse components, then recover materials. Over 95% of assets processed avoid the waste hierarchy by entering refurbishment or component recovery. Only residual materials enter approved recycling streams.

Environmental Leadership

Sustainability at the core of every disposal

Zero landfill. Verified carbon neutral. ISO 14001 certified. Every device we handle is managed to its highest possible use - refurbished, remarketed or certified-recycled. Nothing we touch ends in a skip.

The Problem We Solve

E-waste is the world's fastest-growing waste stream

Without a certified ITAD partner, most retired IT equipment ends in landfill or exports to countries with no environmental controls. The data risk and the carbon cost are both real and measurable.

50 million tonnes

of e-waste generated globally each year - only 17% formally recycled

Our Process

A fully circular IT lifecycle

From your loading bay to a per-device certificate, every step is documented, chain-of-custody controlled, and optimised to maximise reuse and minimise environmental impact.

01. Secure Collection

Chain-of-custody controlled collection from your site. Every asset manifested at point of departure.

02. Audit and Grading

Every device receives a serial-number-level assessment. Asset value, data risk and recyclability are all assessed.

03. Data Destruction

NIST 800-88 aligned. Clear, Purge or Destroy per asset. Certificate issued per device, per serial number.

04. Refurbishment

Repairable devices are fully restored and tested. Extending lifespan by 5 to 10 years keeps manufacturing carbon out of the atmosphere.

05. Remarketing or Certified Recycling

Resaleable assets recover value. Everything else is shredded and processed through certified R2v3 recycling partners. Zero goes to landfill.

Our Impact

What happens to the devices we collect

Not a single device goes to landfill. Every outcome is tracked, certified and reported back to you as part of your audit pack.

Why it all matters
Every device we keep in circulation is manufacturing carbon that never has to be released again.

Extending the life of a single laptop avoids up to 80% of the carbon footprint of building a new one. Multiplied across the million-plus devices we manage, that is real, measurable atmosphere protected.
